Perhaps it will come in the highly anticipated Torchlight 2. ItвЂ™s a minor qualm for a game like this, but a stronger narrative would have made this great little budget dungeon crawler even better. Torchlight 3 does hit all the action RPG checkpoints. Our heroes have little in the way of personality, and the same can be said of most of the people they meet. Torchlight 3 remains a tight, low-stakes, click-heavy Diablo-like, but it doesnt quite have the same magnetic allure it did a decade ago.

If Torchlight has one weak spot, itвЂ™s a lack of compelling characters and interesting dialogue. The founders of Runic Games merged the talents of developers that worked on games such as Mythos, Fate, and BlizzardвЂ™s epic series Diablo. Players can even send their pets back to town to sell excess items for them, allowing them to continue exploring without leaving the dungeon to visit vendors every few minutes or dropping valuable loot for lack of space. Plus, a clean and simple inventory system makes it easy to manage all of the goodies you collect. Torchlight is an excellent example of just the right balance of distributing both the rarities and the essentials.

Though the first game resembled Diablo a lot more, Runic Games branched out a lot with Torchlight 2 and created a game with familiar addicting gameplay mechanics, but a unique style and captivating world.

Beautifully designed dungeons help make playersвЂ™ travels through the mine a pleasure, while one-click combat mechanics provide for speedy, satisfying battles. This is a great Diablo-like RPG thats friendly to beginners and experienced players alike. Torchlight is brilliantly habit-forming in its accessibility, simplicity, and ability to satisfy peopleвЂ™s natural urge to explore, discover, and collect. Echtra Games' Torchlight 3 delivers a warm and light-hearted dungeon-crawling experience, but has a ton of features that feel out of place.
